God of Every Beginning and All our Endings

God of every beginning and all our endings,
Whose grace trembles in every tear,
Whose light shines in every dawn,
Whose peace passes all understandings and worry:

Whisper words of wisdom to those of us who grieve tonight,
Verses of sweet charity to those of us who hurt.
You are the One who renews us in fearful days.
You are the Power that softens our hardening selves.
Breathe with the wind across our many faces;
Console our hearts with gentle sounds of oceans untamed.
Make us new.
Make us brave.
Make us one.

We confess the imperfect ways we respond
To your perfect and immeasurable loving.
We have left good words unsaid and courage unfulfilled.
Receive our humble prayers in grace and kindness,
And fill our hearts with a forgiving and generous spirit.

God of every beginning and all our endings,
Whose grace trembles in every tear,
Whose light shines in every dawn,
Whose peace passes all understandings and worry:

Shower the lovely planet with the blessings of peace.
Heal our broken hearts with tender audacity and joy.
And touch each and every life this night
With Christ's own shining, healing, forgiving light.

For we are Christ's own people, formed in his name,
And we pray through his Spirit in peace,
Amen.

A prayer for the discipling, discipleship community, in seasons of change.
